Services for Lorene Davis, 89, of Hinsonton, are at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home in Pelham. Elder Max Childs will officiate and interment is in Pinecrest Memory Gardens in Pelham. Active pallbearers are Rusty Davis, Richard Davis, Tony Davis, Dale Curles, Dicky Coleman and Billy Davis. Mrs. Davis died Sept. 11 at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home. Born Oct. 27, 1917, in Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas T. and Ernie Harrell Davis. She was a homemaker and a member of Hinsonton Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Charles Davis and wife, Mary Lou of Hinsonton, Jimmy Davis and wife, Martha Jane of Camilla, Revis Davis and wife, Betty of Pelham; six grandchildren, Lori Bradner, Tony Davis, Vernonica Davis, Rusty Davis, Richard Davis, Ashley Davis; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Hardwick Davis; a sister, Ethel E. Willis; four brothers, G.T. Edwards, Theron Edwards, Roy Edwards and Ausburn Edwards. Evelyn L. Hilliard

Services for Evelyn L. Hilliard, of Neptune, N.J., are at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at United Fellowship Baptist Church in Asbury Park, N.J. Interment is Friday, Sept. 14 at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, N.Y. Mrs. Hilliard died Sept. 8. Born Oct. 5, 1923, in Thomasville, she was a daughter of the late Beatrice and Handy Dyson. She was a member of United Fellowship Baptist Church shortly after moving to Neptune, N.J. She faithfully attended church up until her illness. She was a devoted mother, caring and loving all her family and friends. Prior to moving to Neptune, she lived in New York City in the Chelsea area. Survivors include two sons, George H. Smith of Neptune, Robert O. Hillard Jr. of Long Branch, N.J.; daughter-in-law, Wilhelmina Smith of Neptune; a granddaughter, Crystal Brown Contee of Washington, D.C.; three granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; a brother, Johnnie Dyson of Asbury Park, N.J.; two sisters, Bertha Hardy of Bronx, N.Y., Dorothy Dyson of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters-in-law, Elnora Dyson of New York, N.Y., Sylvia Dyson of Thomasville, Willie Ruth Dyson of Atlanta; cousin, Naomi and her husband, June Leigh of Philadelphia, Penn.; six nieces, Diane Sherman and husband, Peter of Neptune, Mary Dyson of Detroit, Mich., Frieda FIsher of Neptune, Joanne Hardy of Brooklyn, Betty Hardy of Bronx, Tuwanda Dyson of Thomasville; six nephews, Sam Watson Jr. of New York, Eddie Hardy of Bronx, Stevie Hardy of New York, John Brister of Stamford, Conn., Espelee Sanders, Bobby Sanders; numerous great-nieces and nephews; companions, Tom Cave; friends, Alice Lawson, Nettie B. Ireatha Shigg Walker

Services for Ireatha “Sister” Shigg Walker, 76, Thomasville, are at 3 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Curnell Henry, church pastor, will officiate and interment is in Peaceful Rest Cemetery. Active pallbearers are her sons. Mrs. Walker died Sept. 8 at Archbold Hospital. Born March 31, 1931, in Metcalfe, she was a daughter of Ben Shigg and Georgia Ann Powell. On Jan. 28, 1950, she married Orrie Walker in Thomasville. At an early age, she joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and an active member of the Pastor’s Aid Club. She was retired and was a devoted and loving mother, working inside and outside of her home. Survivors include her husband, Orrie Walker of Thomasville; daughters, France Walker of Thomasville, Nancy Walker of Washington, D.C., Georgia Mae Walker of Thomasville; son and his wife, Kenneth Walker (Ann) of Thomasville; sons, Ben Walker, Jeffery Walker, Alvin Walker, Robert Walker, Ricky Walker, Alphonso Walker and Jasper Walker all of Thomasville; 18 grandchildren, DeMon Walker, Thressa Duff, Kenneth Walker Jr., Kenesha Walker, Kaleb Walker, Benjamin A. Walker, Quintin Walker, Jeffery Walker Jr., Alvin Walker Jr., Stormy Walker, Jeremy Walker, Whitney Walker, Jasper Walker, Robert Walker Jr., Pamita Walker, Ricky Walker Jr., Randall Walker, Asia Walker; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy (Buster) Shigg, Sylvester (Scuffy) Shigg of California; nephew, Johnny Ingram; friends, Rose Harris, Claire Wilson; aunt, Geneva Moore; and numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two children, Joseph and Teresa Ann; siblings, Andrew Shigg, Ben Shigg Jr., William (Bill) Shigg and Charlotte Forrest. The viewing is from noon to 9 p.m., today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour at the church Thursday with no viewing after the eulogy.
