Funeral services for Frances D. Simmons Smith, 68, of Columbus will be held at Central Baptist Church, 36 Central Church Rd., Ellerslie, GA at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013.  Mrs. Smith was born on June 22, 1944 in Thomasville, GA and passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013.  She was the 6th of 10 children.  Born to the late Fannie Bell and Leroy Simmons.  She was educated at Douglass High School where she was also a majorette and a graduate in the Class of 1962.  At an early age she confessed to Christ and joined Providence M. B. Church where she served until she moved to Columbus, GA.  She lated joined Central Baptist Church in Ellerslie, GA. She was part of the Usher Board.  Frances worked for Columbus Foundry for 10 years until she retired.  Frances past time hobbies included fishing, cruising and dancing to her old school music.  She was a loving mother of three sons and a devoted grandmother.  Her survivors include her children:  Felix W. Davis (Kertredia), Bill L. Williams (Taneka) and Derek H. Smith (Nicole) all of Columbus, GA; siblings Bernard Simmons, Sr. (Thomasine), Carolyn Fogle, Pauline Cone (Samuel) all of Thomasville, Earnest Simmons, Sr. (Belvin), devoted sister Jacqueline Chambers (Michael) all of Atlanta, GA; two dedicated nieces Sylvia Moore and Distarling of both of Atlanta, GA; 13 grandchildren; aunt Mary Monroe Wright of Miami, FL; cousins LeNeorris Rome, David Rome, John Rome, Harold Rome and Marvin Monroe; step-sister Gail McNish and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husbands Bill Williams, Sr. and Hamp Smith; mother Fannie B.
