On June 1, Dixie Bikers of Cairo presented the Southern Regional Technical College Foundation a check for $1,500 to fund the newly developed Dixie Bikers Scholarship. The $500 scholarship will be awarded to one SRTC student every semester of the upcoming academic year.

“We are honored that Dixie Bikers chose SRTC as a recipient of these funds,” said Foundation Director Jenny Dell. “I’m excited for the Foundation to offer the inaugural scholarship this fall, and I look forward to our partnership for years to come.”

The Dixie Biker Scholarship is open to currently-enrolled SRTC students with at least nine credit hours and a cumulative college GPA of 2.5.

“As a group, we have all known what it feels like to need a helping hand to get where you desire to be in life,” said Dixie Biker member Deborah Kelly. “We created this scholarship with that in mind — to help an individual fulfill their dreams of higher education and prosperity.”

Applications are currently being accepted for the Dixie Bikers Scholarship, as well as 29 other scholarships given by the SRTC Foundation. To apply, visit southernregional.edu/scholarships. Application are due Friday, July 19 for the fall semester, which begins on August 20.
