Jackson is in the Lowndes County Jail, according to reports.
The arrest came Thursday when a deputy clocked a Pontiac Grand Prix traveling 84 miles per hour traveling south on Interstate 75, according to reports.
“The deputy conducted a traffic stop and while talking with the driver began to smell an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and noticed the driver … was extremely nervous,” according to the report from the sheriff’s office.
The deputy searched the Pontiac and reported discovering 19 grams of heroin, five grams total of crack and powder cocaine, a bag of Ecstasy pills, a bag of Alprazolam pills, “digital scales commonly used for weighing drugs and a Smith & Wesson 9-millimeter handgun that had been reported as stolen from Marion County, Fla.,” according to the report.
The sheriff’s office claims the drugs were packaged as if for sale.
“Our detectives are continuing to work on this and will be working with Marion County detectives regarding the stolen gun,” Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine said in a statement. “This was great work by the deputies to recognize that something other than speeding was occurring and to continue investigating. Anytime drugs can be taken off the street it’s a good day and to recover someone’s firearm just adds to it.”
