A 53-year-old grandmother was charged with cruelty to children after allegedly disciplining grandchildren she was keeping.
Catherine Williams, 140 Crimson Circle, was keeping the children — five-year-old twin girls and a six-year-old girl — at her home, said Lt. Eric Hampton,Thomasville Police Department public information officer.
"While the kids were there, she disciplined them by using switches and a belt," Hampton said.
The children's mother went to the residence to pick up the children. "The mother noticed the children were acting strangely," Hampton said.
One of the youngsters reacted as if in pain when the mother touched her, Hampton said, adding that the mother found bruises on the child's buttocks.
The mother notified police, and an investigation began.
Williams was charged with two counts of cruelty to children. She was released from the Thomas County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
"A twin and the six-year-old were abused," Hampton said.
