The YMCA has a wide range of activities for children, and even adults, who may find themselves bored this summer. The YMCA offers day camps, youth and adult sports, aquatics, and kung fu, just to name a few.
One event that began Wednesday at the Weston YMCA was the Rose City Day Camp. This camp offers fun-filled days with swimming, arts and crafts, singing, games and much more. It is open to ages 5-13. Breakfast, lunch and a snack are provided for the campers. Campers also receive swimming lessons.
Program Director Gloria Robinson, who has been working with the Weston and Butler-Mason YMCAs for 14 years, said: “Having these kids coming to play in an environment people know is safe is very rewarding.”
Robinson also stated that more 60 kids attend the camp each session. The staff watches over and encourages the campers to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build spirit, mind and body for all. That is the Thomasville YMCA’s mission statement.
