THOMASVILLE — Harper McLendon homered twice and drove in five runs, sparking the Brookwood Warriors to an 11-1 Game 1 win over St. Andrew’s, and the Warriors finished the GISA baseball playoff series sweep with a 15-0 Game 2 romp.
McLendon and Rodge Waldrop combined for a 10-strikeout no-hitter in five innings in the nightcap.
McLendon finished the series with three homers and six RBIs, with a solo shot in the second game.
Collin Clark and Jacob Lauderdale each went 2-for-2 in the opener.
Christopher May went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs in the nightcap. Parker Mirick had a double and two RBIs, and Parker Lee also drove in two runs. Josh McCaskill went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Lauderdale was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Brookwood will host Dominion Christian out of Marietta in the second round. Dominion Christian went on the road to sweep Bulloch Academy 9-2 and 15-1.
Game 1 of the best-of-three series will be Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Brookwood’s Strickland Field, with Game 2 to start 30 minutes after its conclustion. A third game, if necessary, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Strickland Field.
