THOMASVILLE — Two local businesses are committed to making Red Hills Business Park their new home, and the park is one of three locations being considered by a Florida business.
Carroll's Cabinets & Countertops and Potty Man have committed to build at Red Hills. Carroll's Cabinets & Countertops will build a metal structure with a brick facade that must pass Thomasville Payroll Development (PDA) muster, said Shelley Zorn, PDA executive director.
The business will present plans from the metal building construction company to the PDA for approval.
Zorn said construction on the two businesses will begin in the fall, with openings in 2021.
Rose City Air Conditioning wants to purchase a lot and will decide in the near future on a site, Zorn said.
Project Favorite is the code name for a possible Red Hills business venture that could bring 150 jobs to the community in the first round of hiring.
The company proprietor has owned the Jacksonville, Florida, business for 20 years.
Zorn said the company would want to buy 35 acres of business park property and build four structures in a $20 million investment.
The business distributes acoustical panels to gun ranges and sound studios and for use as sound barriers. Zorn said the owner wants acreage at the back of the park.
The owner also is looking at sites in Glynn County and Jacksonville.
The owner of the company has been importing acoustical panels.
"He wants to manufacture them," Zorn said.
The 293-acre Business Park on U.S. 319 North is vacant.
Thomasville and Thomas County governments, along with a state grant, funded purchase of the land.
