Chamber to hold gun raffle

The Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce has started one of its largest fundraising events of the year, the 20 Guns in 20 Days Raffle. For $20 per ticket, participants will have the opportunity to win one of 20 different guns that will be given away over a 20-day period. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold and are available for purchase at South Georgia Outdoors, United National Bank and the Chamber of Commercial. For official rules, visit www.cairochamber.com.

Faith Temple to have fellowship

Faith Temple Church Cairo, 231 Legion Blvd., Cairo, will be having a fellowship service at 11 a.m., Sunday Oct. 13. Special guests are members of White Springs Baptist Church. On Oct. 20 at 11 a.m., the church is holding a pastor’s appreciation service for Pastor Ambers Glenn Jr. and Pastor Steffanie Goins. New Vision Ministry Church is the special guest.

Homecoming at Midway Baptist is Oct. 20

Midway Baptist Church members invite all former pastors, members and friends to join their congregation for the church’s annual homecoming service on Sunday, Oct. 20. The Rev. Wayne McDonald, former pastor of Midway Baptist, will be the guest speaker. The service will begin at 11 a.m. with lunch served immediately afterwards.

FUMC to have fall concert

Cairo First United Methodist Church will present “Gloria!” celebrating the works of John Rutter and Jane Marshall on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. The fall concert will feature the Cairo FUMC Chancel Choir and FUMC Handbell Choir and everyone in the community is welcome to attend.

Reno center holding gun raffle

Reno Community Center is having a gun raffle to benefit the community center. You may purchase tickets to win a Remington 870 shotgun for $5 each or five for $20. Wilson Chapel plans Women’s Day program

The women of Wilson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church invite everyone to their annual Women’s Day program on Oct. 20 starting at 3 p.m. The guest speaker is Evangelist Maryann Mango Ray of Fort Valley. Following the morning service, dinner will be served and everyone is invited to attend.

Library starts a CAM club

Feeling creative? Want to learn more about Japan and its culture? Join the new CAM club at the Roddenbery Memorial Library. Make, discuss and learn about comics, anime and manga on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Expand your knowledge and go beyond.

Al-Anon meets on Thursdays

Does someone close to you have a drinking or drug problem? Al-Anon Family Groups have one focus: to help friends and families of alcoholics. Boys and Girls Club holding raffle for golf cart

Members of Jackie Robinson Boys and Girls Club of Cairo are selling raffle tickets to win a custom golf cart this fall. The car is currently on display in the showroom at Hobson Chevrolet in Cairo. Austin Hobson, the chairman for the JRBGC for this year, along with all members of the board will have raffle tickets available to sell for $20 each. This is a great cause and the opportunity to win a one-of-a-kind golf cart so stop by and purchase your raffle ticket today.

Cake pans available for checkout

Thanks to a generous donation by Cairo’s local VFW No. 8933 Jr. Vice Commander, Nova Maul, the Roddenbery Memorial Library offers cake pans for checkout. Patrons can check out up to two pans for seven days with no renewals and must return the pans washed and in their hanging bags to avoid a cleaning fee.

Grady schools seek bus drivers

The Grady County School System is currently in search of part-time bus drivers for its transportation department. Applicants will be provided with the necessary training to obtain a CDL and must have high school diploma, love children and be available to drive mornings and afternoons.
