Annual basketball camp set

The annual Clifford Hammonds Basketball Skillz Camp will be coming to the Cairo High School gym, June 26-28. The camp staff includes many former all-area, all-region, all-state and college basketball players who will share their skills with young people and teach them the fundamentals of the game, discipline, teamwork and life skills. Church plans VBS

The Church of Grady County, located at 1200 S. Broad St. in Cairo, will be having its annual Vacation Bible School June 9-12 from 5:30 to 8:30 each evening. The theme for the VBS is “Kids of the King: Finding our identity in Christ” and will feature games, stories, music, fun activities, drama, music and supper every night. Everyone in the community is invited to bring their kids for the fun.

Al-Anon meets Thursdays

Does someone close to you have a drinking or drug problem? Al-Anon Family Groups have one focus: to help friends and families of alcoholics. The local group meets in Cairo on Thursday mornings at 9 at the AA clubhouse, 3351 Hwy. 84. For more information call Linda at (229) 221-5469.

Pine Hill to hold VBS

Pine Hill Baptist Church is holding its annual Vacation Bible School June 9-13 from 6 to 8:30 each evening. The theme for this year’s VBS is ‘In The Wild: Amazing Encounters with Jesus’ and classes will be available for 3 years to adult. For more information, call 872-3303.

Dixie Echoes to perform

The Dixie Echoes of Pensacola, Florida will be performing in concert at the Centennial United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 22 at 7 p.m. One of the oldest and most recognized groups in Southern Gospel music, the Dixie Echoes have performed throughout the world and are still recognized as one of the top touring groups in the United States. The church is located at 3788 Hadley Ferry in Cairo and everyone is invited to attend.

Grief support group meets

Grief Share, a support group that offers help and encouragement for those who have lost a loved one, meets on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cairo Christmas Center on Highway 188 in Cairo. For more information, contact Group Leaders Don and Lorenia Carter at 397-0281.

Bethel MB having revival

The members of Bethel M.B. Church in the Pine Park community invite everyone to attend their revival services today through Friday at 7:30 each evening. Pastor Anaias Hopkins of St. Mary M.B. Church is the guest minister for the week and everyone is invited to attend.

Pine Park plans VBS

Pine Park Baptist Church will be having its annual Vacation Bible School starting Sunday, June 9 through Thursday, June 13. Supper starts at 6 p.m. and VBS will end each evening at 8:15. The theme for this year is Giddy Up Junction and everyone is invited to bring their children and have fun.

Storytime is on Tuesdays and Thursdays

The Roddenbery Memorial Library reminds everyone that now that renovations are complete at the library, there are several programs held in the library’s Children’s Room. Terrific Tales Storytime for ages 3-5 is held every Tuesday at 11 a.m. Plus, the Mother Goose Club has stories for children, ages birth to 3 on Thursdays at 11 a.m. All area children and their parents are invited to attend.

Library needs volunteers

The Roddenbery Memorial Library is seeking volunteers to assist with important community projects. As the renovation to the main library building nears completion, volunteers are needed to help teach arts and to help with the summer lunch program. Vets encouraged to join Legion

The American Legion Post No. 122 members invite all area veterans, young and old, to be a part of their organization which meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Masonic Lodge in Cairo at 7 p.m. There is a meeting served and all veterans are welcome to join the legion for fellowship and support.

Chair yoga offered at library

Roddenbery Memorial Library now offers Chair Yoga every Monday morning at 11. Chair Yoga is a great way for older adults and those with injuries to stretch and get in better shape. The program is free and open to everyone.

Grady Republicans meet on fourth Mondays

The Grady County Republican Party meets on the fourth Monday of each month at the Full Gospel Chapel, located at 826 1st Street, S.W. in Cairo at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to join the group.
