CAIRO — Cairo police officers are looking for a suspect in a shooting that happened Tuesday morning.
At approximately 7:26 a.m. Tuesday, Cairo police officers were dispatched to 910 Calvary Road SW in reference to shots fired. While en route, 911 advised that they received a call from a subject advising that he had been shot and was driving himself to the hospital.
Once on scene, contact was made with witnesses who advised an argument ensued between the victim and Douglas Broomfield. Broomfield fired a shot at the victim, while the victim was sitting in his vehicle.
The victim was met at Grady General Hospital where he was being treated for his injuries. The victim identified the offender as Douglas “Moonk” Broomfield as the subject who shot him. Warrants were obtained against Broomfield for the offenses of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
