Chain saw-carrying man arrested

THOMASVILLE — A resident's suspicions were aroused when the individual saw a man walking along a Thomasville street at night carrying a chain saw.

The resident, who lives in the area, called 911 and provided a description of the man's clothing, pointing out that he was carrying a chain saw in the Loomis Street/Gordon Avenue area.

Police found the man a few minutes later — about 9:30 p.m. Saturday —in the 500 block of South Street where the chain saw was found.

"He provided the officer with a false name," said Lt. Toby Knifer, who heads the Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.

The man's real name is Quintavious Morris.

Officers canvassed the Loomis/Gordon area and found a weedeater Knifer said was taken from the same 516 Gordon Ave. residence as the chain saw.

Morris, 29, 1803 South St., is charged with burglary.
