The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning continues for the Ochlockonee River near Thomasville, affecting Thomas and Grady counties.
For the Ochlockonee River, including Thomasville (US 84), Concord (CR 12), Havana (US 27), Bloxham (SR 20), Smith Creek (CR 366), minor flooding is forecast.
At 9:45 a.m. EST Sunday the stage was 14.3 feet.
Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
Minor flooding is forecast.
The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this evening to a crest of 15.4 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage early Tuesday morning.
At 15.0 feet, multiple access roads to boat ramps throughout the basin are flooded. Widespread flooding of wooded bottomland and adjacent farmland occurs.
The National Weather Service recommends the following actions and precautions:
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
The flood warning advisory is in effect until Tuesday afternoon.
