CAIRO — Investigators have identified a man who was found dead inside a vehicle Thursday morning as Cameron Wooten.

Wooten's death is being investigated as a homicide, according to Jamy Steinberg, special agent in charge with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Thomasville office.

Sheriff's deputies found Wooten shot inside a vehicle off of Upper Hawthorne Trail just before 4:30 a.m. Thursday as they were investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area.

Investigators said the vehicle Wooten was found in is the one he is known to drive and that he stayed mainly in Cairo.

Friday, GBI agents and sheriff's deputies continued to interview witnesses and process evidence collected in the case, and an autopsy was scheduled to be performed at the GBI crime lab in Macon later in the day.

Steinberg said law enforcement has received several tips regarding the investigation and urged anyone with information regarding the case to call GBI at 229-225-4090 or the Grady County Sheriff’s Office at 229-377-5200.
