CAIRO — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to assist with an early morning shooting in Cairo that left a Thomasville man with serious injuries.
Police say 36-year-old Antonio Holt was involved in an early morning altercation with Thomasville resident Pierre Garland. At some point during the altercation, Garland was shot in the neck.
An investigator familiar with the case said Holt remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Investigators are continuing to process evidence and review witness statements obtained during the investigation, a GBI press release states.
No charges have been filed. The case remains active and ongoing.

Garland, 37, was later transported to the hospital to be treated for his wounds. An investigator said Garland suffered a serious entrance wound on the front of his neck and exit wound on the back of his neck. The injuries are not life-threatening.
The altercation, which is believed to have been related to a domestic issue, occurred Monday just after 4 a.m. around the 1200 block of 5th Street NW.
