THOMASVILLE — The deadline to register to vote in the November general election is less than a month away.
Monday, Oct. 5, is the deadline to register to vote in the Tuesday, Nov. 3, general election.
Early voting begins Oct. 12 at 1402 E. Jackson St., the Thomas County Elections and Registration Office, said Frank Scoggins, elections supervisor.
Early voting ends Friday, Oct. 30.
Early ballots may be cast from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the elections office.
Absentee ballot activity is brisk at the elections office.
"We've already received about 4,000 absentee ballots," Scoggins said. "We continue to receive applications for absentee ballots."
Friday, Oct. 30, is the last day the elections office will mail an absentee ballot. A returned ballot must be postmarked no later than Nov. 3.
An absentee ballot must be returned in person at the elections office. It also can be returned by a relative of a caregiver. A dropbox at the elections office is available to receive absentee ballots.
