SAVANNAH — Benedictine star Carter Holton helped win Game 1 Monday with his bat. Then the ace left-hander won Game 2 with his arm.

Holton homered twice and drove in three runs in a 9-6 win in the opener and then homered and threw a perfect game in a 10-0 Game 2 win against the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets.

Benedictine advances in the Class AAAA state baseball playoffs while Central’s season ends at 21-13.

Holton struck out 13 of the 15 batters he faced in the second game.

Griffin Taylor was 2-for-2 with a home run and drove in four runs in the first game loss. Jaylan Robinson was 3-for-3.

Charles Pulaski was 3-for-3 with two doubles for the Cadets in Game 1, and Ben Hollerbach went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs.

Justin Thomas tripled twice and drove in three runs to back Holton —who also walked three times — in the second game. Will Walker went 2-for-2 for the Cadets.
