THOMASVILLE — Thomasville police detectives and Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents are following up on every lead they receive in a Thursday fatal shooting.
Chance Jammal Kelley, 19, was found dead on Madison Alley S.E. near the street's intersection with Merrill Street during predawn hours Thursday. Someone heard shots fired, called 911, and police found the body about 5 a.m.
Kelley, a Marine stationed in South Carolina, was at home to attend the Saturday funeral of his great-grandmother, Bernice Thomas.
His stolen 2014 Honda Civic was found at 123 Georgia Ave. early Thursday afternoon.
While at home for his great-grandmother's funeral, Kelley, who was shot multiple times, was staying with relatives in the area where the shooting took place.
"We're still following up on all leads, and the investigation is progressing," said Maj. Wade Glover, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.
Officers are continuing questioning of people who live in the area where the body was found.
On Thursday, Glover said the public's help was needed in making an arrest in the death.
"We have received several leads, and we will continue to follow up on those leads," he said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 911. Names of those who provide information will remain confidential.
