MEIGS — Meigs Police arrested a man last week who is accused of assaulting his mother and sister in separate violent interactions.
An officer patrolling down East Railroad Street the afternoon of July 8 allegedly witnessed Sherrette Caldwell striking a woman with a closed fist across her right cheek.
Caldwell, 34, was immediately taken into custody.
The alleged victim, Caldwell's sister, told law enforcement that Caldwell was involved in a violent encounter with his mother the night before.
Law enforcement says Caldwell became violent toward his sister when she confronted him over the alleged earlier assault.
An officer later spoke with Caldwell's mother and found both of her eyes swollen.
Caldwell's mother stated that she had been hit in the face by her son the night before.
Both victims were transported to the hospital by Thomas County EMS.
Caldwell was taken to the Thomas County Jail on two counts of family violence battery.
He remains in custody on a $1,100 bond.
