THOMASVILLE — A Thomas County man was sentenced to serve three decades in prison in a 2006 child-molestation case involving a young girl.

Thomas County Superior Court Judge Harry Jay Altman also sentenced Robert Wayne Reifsnyder, 50, to 30 years of probation.

Reifsnyder entered guilty pleas to enticing a child for indecent purposes, child molestation and two counts of sexual exploitation of children.

Reifsnyder and a co-defendant, Dawn Snider, have been held — without bond — in the Thomas County Jail since their arrests in August 2006.

They were indicted by a Thomas County grand jury in November 2006.

Grand jurors returned indictments on Reifsnyder for four counts of enticing a child, two counts of exploitation, four counts of aggravated battery and nine counts of child molestation.

The case surfaced when Reifsnyder, who lived at the same mobile home park as Snider, submitted 35-mm film for processing at a Tallahassee (Fla.) Wal-Mart. The photos showed a nude female child who appeared to be about 10.

Store personnel contacted Tallahassee police. Reifsnyder told officers the photographs were taken at his Thomas County residence.

Soon after his arrest, Reifsnyder admitted to Thomas County Sheriff’s Office investigators and a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent he had touched the child inappropriately.

More photos of the child were found at Reifsnyder’s residence.

The case against Snider is pending.

Jim Prine, Thomasville-based Southern Judicial Circuit district attorney, praised the work of sheriff’s office and GBI personnel who investigated the case.

“They did a wonderful job. We’re very fortunate to have people of their caliber in those positions,” Prine said.

Charges of possession of child pornography are pending against Reifsnyder in Tallahassee. Warrants were issued on two counts of the charge.

Kathy McGhin, Tallahassee Police Department spokesman, said the state attorney will determine when the Reifsnyder case is prosecuted in Florida.
