THOMASVILLE — A Thomas County Sheriff's Office deputy saw a man who appeared to be injured at the intersection of North Madison and East Jefferson streets early Friday morning.

The deputy approached the man, who had been shot in the face.

While Thomas County Emergency Medical Service was en route to the scene, the deputy attempted to obtain information from 26-year-old Darius Wyche, a Thomasville resident.

"He could not remember his name. He did not know what happened or where he was when he was shot," said Maj. Wade Glover, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.

A projectile entered one of Wyche's cheek and exited through the other cheek.

The victim was transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital and sedated in the 4:30 a.m. incident.

"As soon as we can follow up with the victim, we will gather further information," Glover said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 911.
