THOMASVILLE — A man was shot, and a woman's tire was flattened by a bullet during random shooting incidents on Saturday.

A man who lives at Villa North Apartments, 510 Old Albany Road, told police he was shot in the foot by someone who approached him from the rear wearing all black.

A small hole was on the man's left foot above his ankle. The bullet went through his foot in the 1:42 p.m. Saturday incident.

Police are looking at apartment complex video to determine what happened.

A few minutes after noon Saturday, police responded to shots fired at the intersection of North Stevens and Payne streets.

Complaints were received about two men walking along Payne when one took out a gun and fired, said Sgt. Scott Newberry, Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division assistant commander.

Police found six .40-caliber shell casings on Payne.

Nearby at an abandoned house at 1228 Stevens, bullets struck the house and a fence, Newberry said.

The people who fired the shots were being "very reckless and dangerous," the officer said.

Another firearm-related incident took place at Saturday night when a woman was sitting in her vehicle at the Green Street Food Mart, 105 Green.

"She said someone fired a shot, and a bullet struck a tire, causing it to go flat," Newberry said. "She said she saw a vehicle, and as it turned, someone shot from inside."
