CAIRO — The man involved in the fatal shooting in Grady County on Monday evening has been identified as Jason Lee Frolic, 43, of St. Petersburg, Fla.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting, which involved Grady County Sheriff’s deputies.

The GBI released his name on Wednesday morning.

The GBI also released other details on Wednesday.

“By the time the incident ended, four deputies were involved,” Mike Callahan, assistant special agent for the Thomasville Office, said.

Deputies went to the 3000 block of Pine Park Road on Monday as the homeowner wanted a man to leave his property.

The deputies were unable to get the man to leave and attempted to arrest him.

After deputies got a handcuff on one wrist, the man escaped and got into a deputy’s car. As he started to back up while the deputies were near the open drivers’ door, the deputies fired at the man.

The man then drove forward out of the yard. Additional deputies also fired at him.

A short chase ended on Pine Park Road, according to Callahan.

Paramedics responded and the man was pronounced dead.

An autopsy will be performed at the GBI crime lab.
