Other Thomas County municipalities had elections Tuesday night as well.
In Barwick, incumbent Timothy Andrews received 20 votes to challenger Brian Griffis’ 18 for his Post 2 seat. Incumbents George Hicks and Rosetta Herring faced no opposition in their re-election bids.
In Coolidge, both incumbent at-large council members were defeated. Voters choose three at-large members, and challengers Adam Gilligan and Linda Alligood Smith each received 61 votes. Reece Yarbrough garnered 53 votes. Incumbents Margaret Creel (36) and Earnest Scott Jr. (34) did not get enough votes to retain their seats.
There also were three at-large seats up for grabs on the Meigs City Council among four candidates, three of them incumbents. Newcomer Alfreda Jenkins earned the most votes, 107. Incumbents Jimmy Layton, with 96, and Cynthia Anderson, with 90, were returned to their council seats. Tommy White, who had 56 votes, did not win in his bid to retain his council seat.
