School administrator indicted on 15 counts, including child cruelty


THOMASVILLE — A 15-count indictment has been returned on an educator charged in 2016 in a child-cruelty case at her Thomasville private school

Linda McLean, administrator of Favor Christian Academy, was indicted by a Thomas County grand jury in a special session.

McLean was indicted on:

• Eight counts of cruelty to children in the first degree

• Four counts of aggravated assault

• One count of battery

• One count of simple battery

• One count of simple assault

McLean was charged in September 2016 with first-degree child cruelty involving a child at Favor Christian Academy on North Broad Street. A witness told police McLean struck and choked a child.

The person who contacted police last year told a detective documentation exists of other occurrences in which McLean abused students verbally, mental and physically, according to a police incident report.
