THOMASVILLE — A suspect in a five-day June crime spree was extradited from Florida early Tuesday morning and booked into the Thomas County Jail.
Suspect Bradley Shane Briggs is charged with 18 counts of entering auto, along with probation violation, firearms offenses and felony theft by taking.
The 32-year-old suspect, whose last known address was 4857 McMillan Road, Lot 33, Ochlocknee, took items from vehicles from June 4 to June 9 in Thomas County residential subdivisions, according to Capt. Tim Watkins, Thomas County Sheriff's Office chief investigator.
Watkins said Briggs stole a firearm from a vehicle and took it to a Monticello, Florida, motel. An incident ensued, and law enforcement was called. A check of the firearm showed it was stolen in Thomas County the previous night.
Briggs was booked into the Jefferson County Jail, where he was held on Florida firearms charges.
"And he was fighting extradition," Watkins said.
Briggs was on probation for entering auto, theft by taking and two counts of firearm possession by a convicted felon when he was arrested in Florida.
Watkins said Briggs entered Thomas County subdivisions at night and go from vehicle to vehicle checking to see if they were locked.
In addition to firearms, the suspect took cash, purses "and anything he could sell. That's what he took," Watkins said.
Red Bug Lane in Coolidge and Madison Grove were among Briggs' targeted hits, the investigator said.
