THOMASVILLE — A Cairo teen injured in a moped crash Sunday night died Monday morning as a result of crash injuries.

Jerry Wayne Trull, 19, 480 11th Ave. N.E., Apartment F48, Cairo, was operating a 2016 Wolf moped on the north bypass about 7 p.m. Sunday, when the cycle was struck on the rear by a 2006 Nissan Frontier truck driven by Amanda Carol Fain, 41, 611 Old Cassidy Road, according to reports.

The Nissan and moped were traveling east within a mile of U.S. 84.

“They were in the right outside lane,” said Sgt. 1st Class Tommy Peeples, commander of Georgia State Patrol Post 12 in Thomasville.

Trull was ejected from the moped, and his helmet came off. Peeples said the truck and moped came to rest on the south shoulder.

Trull died Monday at Archbold Memorial Hospital.

An investigation is under way into the crash. Peeples said charges are pending, but there were no signs of impairment with the Frontier driver.
