THOMASVILLE — Thomasville Fire/Rescue investigators determined a Tuesday morning house fire began in a second-floor bedroom area, but the cause is not known.
"It is not arson. We know that," said Tim Connell, interim fire chief. "It will be written up as an unintentional fire."
Connell said the blaze appears to have begun in a room adjacent to a bedroom.
Occupants escaped uninjured from the midmorning 523 N. Stevens St. blaze.
Connell said fire damage was extensive to the room of origin and to the adjacent bedroom. The remainder of the house has water and smoke damage.
