THOMASVILLE — A two-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon claimed the lives of two Grady County residents.

A vehicle going southbound on Highway 111 apparently crossed the center line and hit a northbound log truck. The log truck went off the road and hit two pine trees, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, Marion Smith, and the log truck driver, Michael Keith Jackson, both perished in the crash, which happened around 4:40 p.m.

There were no other vehicles involved and there were no other occupants in either vehicle.

The road was shut down for about five hours following the wreck.
