Thomasville police charged a teen early Thursday with violating curfew.
The city ordinance pertaining to a curfew for youngsters is nothing new, said Louis Schofill, a Thomasville police detective.
Corey Brower, 17, was sitting on a bench at the intersection of Crawford and East Jackson streets at 3 a.m. Thursday.
“He told police he did not want to go home,” Schofill said. The teen’s mother was at work and could not be reached.
Police cited Brower and took him home.
Minors 17 and under cannot be out after 11 p.m. Curfew is midnight for minors on Friday and Saturday nights.
If a minor is involved in suspicious activity, the individual is questioned by police. If an officer determines there is a violation, the juvenile is taken to the police station and picked up by parents or taken home by officers.
