THOMASVILLE — It was almost a year ago that Valwood topped Brookwood in GISA Region 3-AA play.

With the Warriors’ non-region schedule finally concluded, Brookwood can set its sights on getting a little revenge.

“That gave us a horrible taste in our mouth,” said Brookwood coach Shane Boggs, whose team travels to Valdosta on Friday night to play the Valiants. “Our kids are excited about it, to say the least. The fact is, for the last 51 weeks, Valwood beat us last year and we have had to live with that.”

Brookwood lost to Valwood 28-21 a year ago.

There were certain elements of the game Boggs is determined to correct before Friday night’s clash.

“Last year, the story of the game was we did not capitalize on one of our big drives. We get it all the way down there and fumble one on the 1, so one thing we’ll talk about again is ball security,” Boggs said. “Then, we had a hard time getting them off the field at times.

“It’s kind of like stop the run and protect the ball.”

The Warriors fell again to the Valiants in a three-way region playoff that led to the Warriors’ second-place finish. The Warriors have had their sights set on a little payback against the Valiants.
