Thomasville starting pitcher Hunter Donalson allowed only one hit and struck out 14 in Thursday’s 2-0 win over Region 1-AA rival Early County.

The Region 1-AA opener for Thomasville quickly turned into a pitching clinic for sophomore Hunter Donalson.

The southpaw recorded 14 strikeouts, allowed only one hit and pitched a complete-game shutout as the Bulldogs edged Early County 2-0.

“The thing I liked about Hunter, in this ballgame in particular, is he’s getting into that fourth or fifth inning and he might be wearing down just a hair,” Thomasville coach Erik McDougald said, “and tonight he was able to make a conversion from being overpowering early to becoming a pitcher towards the latter part of the game and giving us an opportunity.

“I was very proud of Hunter.”

Donalson tallied five straight strikeouts from the 3rd-5th innings. The only hit off the hurler came in the second on an infield single.
