THOMASVILLE -- Thomas County Central's softball team won first place in the silver division this past weekend in the second annual Vikette Invitational softball tournament in Valdosta.

Central opened Friday with a split, losing to Lowndes 1-0 in the afternoon and beating Lanier County 6-0 that night. Erin Searcy got the win for the Lady Yellow Jackets as she allowed no runs in five innings while striking out six.

The win improved her record to 8-3.

On Saturday, Central beat Berrien 6-3 behind a 3-for-4 game at the plate from Whitney Myles. Candace Hart, Ashley Huntley and Stephanie Walker each had two hits.

Central was then split into a different group with Crisp County, Ware County and Statesboro.

The Lady Jackets beat the Lady Cougars 6-2. Searcy got another win, allowing just one earned run while striking out four.

Central advanced to the championship round, beating Ware County 6-3. Searcy got another win, allowing no runs and one hit in four innings pitched.

Walker finished the tournament 8-for-13 at the plate.

Central returns to the field Wednesday in a Region 1-AAAA game at home against Ware County. Central is 14-4 overall and 2-3 in region play.
