THOMASVILLE —

The Brookwood baseball took both ends of its home doubleheader Thursday afternoon over region foe Southland Academy, finishing off the week's three-game series sweep to start region play and extending the Warriors’ winning streak to eight.

In Thursday’s opener, a 7-1 win, Jacob Lauderdale hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning, and Harper McLendon added a three-run shot in the second. Josh McCaskill hit a slot shot in the fifth.

Lauderdale drove in another run with his sacrifice fly that scored Parker Lee in the sixth.

Lauderdale struck out 10 Raiders and scattered six hits over six innings. The Coastal Carolina signee walked one and did not allow an earned run.

In a 2-1 nightcap victory, McLendon hit two solo homers as Parker Mirick went 6 2/3 innings, striking out eight while giving up six hits and two runs.

Brookwood, now 9-3, hits spring break and will return to action next Friday in Crawfordville, Florida, against Wakulla High School.
