Brookwood tennis continued its winning ways this season by defeating Thomasville High School on Monday in both girls and boys matches.
On the girls side, gritty and determined play saw the Lady Warriors defeat a tough Thomasville High team to win 3-2. Abby Lee lost to Jocelyn Watson in a tight match at No. 1 singles after splitting sets 2-6 and 6-4 to force a third set tiebreaker. Emma Szwarc defeated Katie Zolt, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, while Elise McPherson downed Abby Gerlemen 6-2, 6-0 in No. 3 singles. The same scenario played out on the doubles court, where Thomasville High took a close match at No. 11 doubles as Sophie Thomas and Lexi Taylor lost 6-4, 6-2 but the match was decided with the No. 2 doubles team of Rayne Deese and Camille Yarbrough winning for Brookwood with a 6-2, 6-4 decision.
The Brookwood boys cruised to another victory winning all matches except No. 1 singles. This kept Brookwood perfect on the season as a team. Dallas Forsyth won at No. 2 in a sibling rivalry over his brother Smith Forsyth, 6-0, 6-0. Alden Harrison took care of No. 3 singles for Brookwood with a solid 6-1, 6-2 win over Colin Szwarc. In doubles play, both matches were easily handled by the Brookwood teams of Bradley Merschman and Clark Carter at No. 1, 6-0, 6-0, and Wil Kadel and Pearson Taylor at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
