THOMASVILLE — The Thomas County Central baseball team picked up a split with Lee County after winning its Region 1-AAAA doubleheader against Monroe by forfeit.
The Trojans scored twice in the top of the eighth inning to take a 3-1 win against the Yellow Jackets in the opener, as Luke Addison’s RBI double snapped the 1-1 tie.
Hayes Barwick went 2-for-4 but three Lee County hurlers held Central to six hits. Jake Green went the first six innings for the Jackets, striking out seven while allowing one run on two hits.
Central trailed 1-0 going into the bottom of the seventh before Jason Benton’s run-scoring groundout brought in the tying run.
In the nightcap, the Jackets jumped out to an early six-run lead and held on for an 8-6 win.
Jaylan Robinson was 2-for-3 and drove in three runs, and Green went 2-for-4. Adam Lane and Reid Harvey each added a double.
Brayden Proctor was 2-for-4 for Lee County while Cooper Ray was 2-for-5 and Addison went 3-for-5 with two triples and two RBIs.
The Yellow Jackets visit Bainbridge on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. for a region game and host the Bearcats in a doubleheader Friday.
