The Thomas County Central High School cheerleaders won the award for the group with most participants.

The Junior Service League’s Red Nose Run 5K and Half Marathon was a huge success on Saturday with more than 500 people participating, ranging in ages from eight to 70.

The unofficial winners of the 5K: overall winner — Charlie Lung; female — Lindsey Pool; masters male — Rick Mazerkiwezcz; masters female — Nancy Herring.

The unofficial winners of the Half Marathon: overall winner — Charlie Johnson; female — Sarah Batt; masters female — Mary Ann Grayson; masters male — Derek Larson.

The Thomas County Central High School Cheerleaders won the award for group with most participants.

Junior Service League strives to meet the economic, recreational, cultural and medical needs of children in the community. All proceeds from the run will directly benefit the children in Thomasville and Thomas County. Visit for the list of organizations and individuals that are directly benefited.

The major sponsor of the Run was TNB Financial Services. Other sponsors were Thomas University and Barberitos.

Late t-shirt pick-up is Saturday, Dec. 29 at State Farm on Pinetree Blvd.
