THOMASVILLE — Upsets were nowhere to be found in the second round of the Times-Enterprise Pick ’Em Tournament — just the top four teams advancing to the semifinal round.

The No. 1 seed, 1973 Thomasville Bulldogs is matched against the No. 4 ’88 Cairo team, while No. 2 ’97 Thomas County Central is pitted against No. 3 1974 Thomasville.

The Yellow Jackets’ last state championship team knocked off the ’87 Central team, led by senior Charlie Ward Jr. Their toughest matchup, though, comes this week against the ’74 National Champion Bulldogs. But the storyline in this semifinal game is the matchup of two of the top running backs to come out of Thomasville, Central’s Joe Burns and Thomasville’s William Andrews — both in their senior years.
